The secretary of the Democratic Party contested the idea of ​​increasing the Italian military budget to 5% of GDP, an increase that according to estimates would amount to about 87 billion euros per year .

Schlein also criticized the internal contradictions within the majority on foreign policy and called for a clear commitment to European integration, against the ambiguity of those who support nationalist governments.
